NAHA Port Public International Container Terminal Project

Signing of Lease Agreement


A 10-year Lease Agreement for Naha Port Public International Container Terminal was signed between Naha Port Authority (NPA) and Naha International Container Terminal, Inc. (NICTI) on May 12, 2005. NICTI is a new joint venture company between International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI)(Philippines)(60% share) and Okinawa's six stevedoring companies(40% share).

Operation of the terminal under NICTI will start on January 1, 2006. NPA will cooperate with NICTI to invite new container shipping routes and promote international container transshipment at Naha Port, aiming to achieve the ultimate objective of the project, Okinawa's economic development through promoting industries with the reduction of maritime transportation cost.
